Andinobates dorisswansonae

This remarkable frog is native to a very small region in Colombia, where it faces continuous threats from human activities, including coffee cultivation and cattle grazing. It inhabits elevations around 1,700 meters in the Tolima department's mountains. Classified as vulnerable to extinction, the species requires urgent conservation efforts to prevent further decline. In collaboration with a local coffee producers’ organization, we are working to protect the forests surrounding coffee plantations, promoting a harmonious coexistence between agricultural activities and the frog’s remaining populations. This cooperative approach serves as a unique and positive example of how human settlements and endangered species can thrive together through sustainable practices.
