Cacao Leaf Litter
The cacao leaves (Theobroma cacao) from Tesoros de Colombia are hand-harvested by farmers from small Afro-Colombian communities in the southern Valle del Cauca. These leaves come from sustainable farms in the Colombian Chocó biogeographical region, a biodiversity hotspot that serves as the natural habitat for several species of poisonous frogs from the genera Oophaga, Andinobates, and Phyllobates. As these farms do not use pesticides, we can guarantee that our cacao leaves are free of harmful substances. Beyond their role in supporting the development of bioactive terrariums, these dried leaves also help prevent skin injuries and diseases in amphibians. Additionally, they are an excellent choice for enhancing the natural appearance of neotropical frog biotopes.
These are the same leaves we use to care for and breed our frogs at Tesoros, and we highly recommend them to enhance the well-being of your frogs.
