An update on our last shipment

Part of our most recent shipment did not arrive the way it should have. Some frogs arrived with nose rubs and lesions, and some did not make it. These are animals we raised in our own facilities, and we know how much our customers invest in them, financially and emotionally. That is not acceptable to us, and we’re sorry.

What we’ve done so far

I’ve personally contacted every customer who reported a problem, and we’re working through refunds, replacements, and treatment for each case individually. We’re also working with a veterinarian to understand the cause and to support anyone whose frogs need care. And we’re reviewing every step of this shipment, from packing in Colombia to arrival in the US, to find out exactly what went wrong.

If you received frogs from this shipment and they are showing any signs of illness, or if you haven’t heard from us yet, please reach us at https://tesorosfrogs.com/pages/contact. We want to make this right with every person affected.

What’s changing

We have shipped frogs from Colombia for years with very few problems, but the journey is hard on these animals, and this shipment showed us clearly where we need to do more.

We’re building a facility in Florida where frogs will be held after they arrive in the US. There, they’ll have time to recover from the trip and be checked to make sure they’re healthy and ready before they go to their new homes. This is our top priority, and we’re taking the time to put these changes in place properly.

Why we do this

Tesoros exists to protect Colombia’s poison dart frogs. Every frog we produce is legally bred and traceable through CITES, giving keepers an alternative to animals taken illegally from the wild, and every purchase supports conservation work and the local communities who protect these species. That mission only works if the frogs reach you healthy, and we take that responsibility seriously.

Thank you for your patience and for your trust in what we’re building.

Tesoros Frogs is the US marketplace of Tesoros de Colombia

A conservation initiative focused on the sustainable breeding and legal export of native Colombian poison dart frogs like Oophaga sylvatica, to combat illegal wildlife trafficking.

The project works closely with international authorities such as CITES to ensure that all exports are transparent and traceable, protecting against the laundering of illegally caught animals. The initiative has gained recognition for its positive impact on wildlife conservation, appearing in major publications like the BBC, National Geographic, and the New York Times, and has grown a strong reputation for advancing sustainable practices in the exotic pet trade.
