Description
The Cauca Poison Frog (Andinobates bombetes) is an endangered species endemic to Colombia, easily recognized by its striking red or orange stripes and yellow to greenish-yellow side spots.
Found in Colombia’s mountain and dry forest ecosystems, this remarkable frog faces significant threats from habitat loss and environmental degradation. Its conservation depends on habitat protection, restoration, and sustainable management.
Bringing Andinobates bombetes to the international community has required nearly 10 years of research, permitting, husbandry development, and collaboration with Colombian authorities. This achievement demonstrates that conservation and sustainable biocommerce can work hand in hand to protect endangered species.
